The Vampire Strikes Back

We are currently producing a documentary about WZ507, believed to be the only airworthy de Havilland Vampire T11 in the world. The producers are looking for former pilots and ground crew who can tell us what the aircraft was like to fly and maintain during RAF service. Documentary Update

Over the past few months our researchers have been busy delving into the history of WZ507. We have discovered some Super 8 footage from 1980, showing early test flights at Carlisle after initial restoration back to flying condition by the Solway Aviation Society. We have also recorded interviews with former Vampire T11 pilots, with more in the pipeline.

Location filming at Chilbolton has been completed, formerly home of 247 Squadron, the first RAF squadron to operate the Vampire F1.

Impressive footage of current operations has also been recorded, showing many aspects of flying the Vampire. We hope to have a preview of some of this footage on this web site soon!
