note, as WZ507 is believed to be the only airworthy Vampire
T11 in the world, the VPG has decided not to conduct any further
conversion training onto this aircraft – the risk of
a training incident is too high and our main stated aim is
to preserve WZ507 in an airworthy condition.
Consequently we cannot accept anybody into the VPG who intends
to undergo conversion training to fly this aircraft on a solo

Do I need any previous jet experience to fly this
No previous experience is required. All owners may fly as
a passenger with one of our experienced pilots.
Are the ejection seats ‘live’?
The ejection seats are no longer ‘live’. Parachutes
are still fitted in case of emergency.
How much does it cost?
Less than you might expect! Having reviewed our costs over
the past year, we are pleased to announce that the charges
for 2014 are listed below (these will be reviewed again in

Monthly Subscription includes insurance, hangarage and scheduled
The hourly rate is a contribution to the engine fund, tyres
and other consumables. It also includes ground power for engine
starting. It does not include fuel!
Landing fees at North Weald are not charged; landing fees
elsewhere must be settled by individual pilots.
What are the aircraft hours?
Despite being sixty years old, the aircraft is a relative
youngster. As of January 2012, the airframe has 1360 hours
flying time and our replacement engine has logged only 110
